December Currently! {2014}

LISTENING: I'm listening to Sarah's favorite TV show... Sid the Science Kid! LOVING: I love watching Sarah learn and grow each day. She will be 18 months old this Wednesday! This past month she has learned lots of new words, knows how to throw trash away in the kitchen, invented a few more dance moves, gives kisses, and has become obsessed with stickers! THINKING: I cannot stop thinking about how excited I am about the Polka Dot Parlor new site launch! I began working with Staci from Quirky-Bird about a year ago on updating my website. I always wanted to build my brand from the ground up with a custom web design and Staci has done a phenomenal job! We are getting close to the finish line and I am hoping to go live with lots of new products by January 1st! WANTING: I am wanting … [Read more...]

Classroom Awards & Google Reader

It's the end of the year and time for Classroom Awards! How do you recognize your students at the end of the year? Last year, I wanted to recognize my students for their individual efforts and unique personalities. I created my Classroom Awards & Certificates for Primary Students and they are available in Chevron, Stripes, and Polka Dots! I love having the families join us as I give out these awards. I always describe the award and tell why I have chosen the particular student who is receiving it. The students LOVE trying to guess who is going to receive each award! This year after our awards ceremony, I had the sweetest grandfather thank me for doing individualized awards. He said he knew it meant so much for his grandson to be recognized as the "Marvelous Mathematician" and he could … [Read more...]

Summer Bucket List!

I am so excited that Summer is almost here! I'm joining in with the Summer Bucket List linky party hosted by A Cupcake for the Teacher, Miss Kindergarten, and A Modern Teacher. The most important item on my Summer Bucket List is to spend time getting to know our little girl. I am almost 9 months pregnant and have a c-section scheduled for June 3rd! We are so excited about welcoming our baby girl into our family... most of my time this summer will be spent navigating the waters of new motherhood! My husband and I have a lot to learn, and thankfully we have all summer to figure it out! As soon as I can, I want to begin running again. I continued running up until week 26 of my pregnancy and then my feet began to swell. For the past 3 months I've only been able to fit into one pair of … [Read more...]

Hall Pass Linky Party!

Product One of my favorite products is my Common Core Math Journal for First Grade. This Math Journal features a "Number of the Day" journal page where my students practice representing numbers, place value (hundreds, tens, ones), counting on, comparing numbers (greater than, less than, equal to), ten more, ten less, and skip counting by twos, fives, and tens. They also complete problem solving each day where they use various strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This Math Journal has helped my students love to problem solve! They are always excited to find out the "number of the day" and they even enjoy creating their own story problems! Area A favorite area within our classroom is our "square" carpet. This is the area where we meet for … [Read more...]
