Summer Bucket List!

I am so excited that Summer is almost here! I'm joining in with the Summer Bucket List linky party hosted by A Cupcake for the Teacher, Miss Kindergarten, and A Modern Teacher. The most important item on my Summer Bucket List is to spend time getting to know our little girl. I am almost 9 months pregnant and have a c-section scheduled for June 3rd! We are so excited about welcoming our baby girl into our family... most of my time this summer will be spent navigating the waters of new motherhood! My husband and I have a lot to learn, and thankfully we have all summer to figure it out! As soon as I can, I want to begin running again. I continued running up until week 26 of my pregnancy and then my feet began to swell. For the past 3 months I've only been able to fit into one pair of … [Read more...]

Daily 5 Book Study: Chapter 4

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day celebrating with friends and family! I woke up super early to go downtown Atlanta for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. A spot in the annual 10k is a coveted thing around Atlanta and I was SO excited to finally participate after living here for 5 years! Out of the 60,000 runners, my favorite was this sweet, elderly man whose T-shirt read: "I'm 91 years old! Eat my dust you slowpokes!" We'll be going to the Braves game later tonight for the game and fireworks! On to Daily 5! **Please note that the following is only my opinion and thoughts on how I implement D5 in my classroom. These thoughts and ideas are not endorsed by the 2 sisters or their publisher Stenhouse. 3 Ways to Read a Book Chapter 4 was all about setting up Read … [Read more...]

My Obsessions!

I just love Linky parties! This topic includes things in life that I just love and tend to obsess over... If you ask my husband, he would say that includes EVERYTHING! I'm linking up with Living a Wonderful Life to divulge what's on my list of obsessions! For the past year and a half, I have been obsessed with National Board Certification. I began searching for resources to help me with my journey last February, applied for candidacy in April, and have been working NON-STOP ever since. My candidate cycle will end in ONE WEEK after I take the Assessment Center exercises! Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher has always been a dream of mine and it is something that I have worked very hard on and will continue until accomplished! I love to RUN! I have been SO upset with myself … [Read more...]

Summer Bucket List!

Summer is right around the corner and I am joining Teri, Hadar, and April in the Summer Bucket List Linky Party! Since we are moving to a NEW school in August I am SO excited to have this opportunity to organize my teaching materials. Every box that I have packed so far is organized and I have purged and given away many items that I just do not need anymore. This summer I am working on organizing ALL of the books in my classroom library. I am using the Scholastic Book Wizard to level my books A-Z and I am entering all of my books into Shelfari. I am so excited to use Shelfari in my classroom next year! I have already began tagging my books and I love that if I want to know what books I have available for "Back to School," I just click on the tag and I can easily see them and know … [Read more...]

Sweetwater 420 Fest

Today was the Sweetwater 420 Fest! This festival has become a favorite that Scott and I attend each year. We started off the day with a 5k run through the Candler Park neighborhood. The hills on this course make it a challenge! During the run, I enjoyed looking at all of the houses in the neighborhood. If I lived downtown, I would definitely choose the Candler Park neighborhood. Every house is so cute with a picket fence and a big front porch! Our next house is definitely going to have a front porch and a swing! This house was one of my favorites from today... After the race, we went into the festival and browsed the craft booths. I love looking for unique items and also searching for new craft ideas. We found an artist from Athens, GA that creates artwork from old Coke bottles. He … [Read more...]

Sleighbells on the Square!

For those of you who don't know... I ♥ running! Last month I completed my longest race yet... a 15k/9.3 miles! I love competing in races because it links two of my favorite things: running and giving back. Some of my favorite charities to support through running are Soles4Souls, the Atlanta Children's Shelter, and Girls on the Run: Atlanta. Running in races is such a fun way to give to others in need! I have recently found out about a race that benefits our own Mableton Elementary School! Ever heard of Sleighbells on the Square? Every year the Cobb County Bar Association holds a 5K race on the Marietta Square to raise money for their Community Resource Fund. This money goes to help families in Cobb County that are not able to get help in other places. Last year the Cobb County Bar … [Read more...]
