Meet Me! {teacher blogger linky}

Hi everyone! My name is Bethany McClure and I'd like to welcome you to my blog, Learning is a Journey! I started my blog a few years ago as a way for my students and parents to stay up-to-date on classroom happenings. Since then, I've expanded my blog to not only include topics pertaining to teaching and learning, but also topics that are important in other areas of my life such as my family, running, music, and Auburn to name a few! I would love for you to take a look around and follow my blog via one of the options listed on the sidebar! Here is a little bit about my sweet family... I have been married to Scott for 4 years! We met at Auburn University. War Eagle! Scott was getting ready to graduate with his engineering degree and I was finishing up my 2nd year of teaching 1st grade at … [Read more...]

Summer Bucket List!

I am so excited that Summer is almost here! I'm joining in with the Summer Bucket List linky party hosted by A Cupcake for the Teacher, Miss Kindergarten, and A Modern Teacher. The most important item on my Summer Bucket List is to spend time getting to know our little girl. I am almost 9 months pregnant and have a c-section scheduled for June 3rd! We are so excited about welcoming our baby girl into our family... most of my time this summer will be spent navigating the waters of new motherhood! My husband and I have a lot to learn, and thankfully we have all summer to figure it out! As soon as I can, I want to begin running again. I continued running up until week 26 of my pregnancy and then my feet began to swell. For the past 3 months I've only been able to fit into one pair of … [Read more...]

Hall Pass Linky Party!

Product One of my favorite products is my Common Core Math Journal for First Grade. This Math Journal features a "Number of the Day" journal page where my students practice representing numbers, place value (hundreds, tens, ones), counting on, comparing numbers (greater than, less than, equal to), ten more, ten less, and skip counting by twos, fives, and tens. They also complete problem solving each day where they use various strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This Math Journal has helped my students love to problem solve! They are always excited to find out the "number of the day" and they even enjoy creating their own story problems! Area A favorite area within our classroom is our "square" carpet. This is the area where we meet for … [Read more...]

Currently & Some Shopping!

I've been wanting so badly to shop for my new classroom! It has been so hard not to buy things since I don't even know what my classroom looks like. Our staff is moving into a brand new building at the end of the month... and we have no idea what to expect! We've been watching it being built for a year and a half and we've only seen the outside! I did buy a few things for my classroom (and myself!) that I just couldn't pass up... I just got my new phone case in the mail today! In addition to teaching, I also have a web store - Polka Dot Parlor. I ordered this phone case for myself in hot pink zig-zag with a solid navy circle. I LOVE how it turned out! I have always wanted a rocking chair for my classroom. I came upon this one in an antique shop in Auburn. It was already painted and … [Read more...]

My Obsessions!

I just love Linky parties! This topic includes things in life that I just love and tend to obsess over... If you ask my husband, he would say that includes EVERYTHING! I'm linking up with Living a Wonderful Life to divulge what's on my list of obsessions! For the past year and a half, I have been obsessed with National Board Certification. I began searching for resources to help me with my journey last February, applied for candidacy in April, and have been working NON-STOP ever since. My candidate cycle will end in ONE WEEK after I take the Assessment Center exercises! Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher has always been a dream of mine and it is something that I have worked very hard on and will continue until accomplished! I love to RUN! I have been SO upset with myself … [Read more...]
