About

photo-225x300Hi Everyone! I’m Bethany and I live in Alabama! I am a SAHM to Sarah and before that was a K-2 teacher for 8 years. First Grade has my heart! I have a M.Ed. from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and am National Board Certified as an Early Childhood-Generalist. In my free time I enjoy creating teaching materials for teachers and students nationwide! While I do miss being in the classroom, I am loving this time at home with my daughter. I am staying current by tutoring, blogging, creating resources, mentoring National Board candidates, reading books and other research, and continuously learning. A few more things about me that you’re sure to read about on my blog… I love my family, Auburn football, Atlanta Braves baseball, running, music, and Kauai. I am so proud to have just completed my first half marathon! I can’t wait to train for another one!

In addition to being a SAHM, I have two businesses that keep me busy! I am the owner of the web boutique, Polka Dot Parlor. I always had a dream to own a web boutique, but with my teaching background I had no idea where to begin. I completed a lot of research, got my business license, and sought out vendors for my shop. I wanted to offer my customers some of my favorite things, so in my shop you’ll find personalized stamps, stationery, custom gifts, personalized kids items, and more. I opened my web boutique on January 10, 2010 and am always seeking out new products to add! Shop online and follow my shop here → Shop | Facebook | Twitter

In February 2014, I decided to invest $99 to become a Thirty-One Independent Consultant. When I was expecting Sarah, my first grade class gave me a baby shower and one of the gifts I received was a Thirty-One Organizing Utility Tote. This was the first product I ever owned by Thirty-One and I was amazed how much we used that bag once Sarah arrived. It was the perfect size for traveling with all of her baby things… blankets, bottles, bath stuff, toys, etc. I wanted to order a few more things and on a whim decided to join as a consultant. What a great decision that was! I love what Thirty-One stands for as a faith-based company and I love being able to offer Thirty-One products to my friends, family members, and customers! I have met so many wonderful people through Thirty-One and I love how rewarded and appreciated I feel just by being part of this amazing company. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! In addition to teaching and running my businesses, I also have a passion for mentoring and helping others reach their goals. You will see that many of my posts will pertain to National Board Certification, as well as teaching methods for exploratory learning, play in the early grades, and utilizing technology in the classroom. My blog was first created to help students and parents stay informed of what was happening in our classroom. Since then, I have expanded my blog to include not only topics pertaining to teaching and learning, but also topics that are important in other areas of my life. It is my hope that my blog will serve as a place of inspiration for you. I am excited to have you share in my journey! Take a look around and if you have any questions please contact me. I would love to hear from you!
