Veteran’s Day & Thanksgiving!

Veteran’s Day at Mableton is always so special. Earlier this year we read the book Hero Dad and wrote letters to the Soliders. To celebrate Veteran’s Day we made camouflage hats and enjoyed the Veteran’s Day Program in the afternoon. Mr. Reggie Ewing was the guest speaker this year. He did an awesome job! I taught 2nd grade to his son, Daniel last year. Look for Daniel to be featured in an upcoming post. He recently visited our classroom as a guest reader!

In November, we also enjoyed our Thanksgiving Feast. We had parents, grandparents, and other family members join us for lunch!

We also completed Pilgrim writing, and the students wrote about what life would be like if they were a Pilgrim girl or boy.

For Homework, each student decorated a plain, boring Turkey any way they wanted! They used feathers, paper, fabric, glitter, yarn, and other fun stuff! My students are SO creative! Check out their Terrific Turkeys!
